2023 Festive Season

As the frosty breeze embraces the world in a cozy winter hug, and twinkling lights adorn every corner, December unfolds its enchanting tale of merriment and warmth. The final chapter of the year, painted in hues of red and green, is a time when hearts beat in harmony with the rhythm of festive cheer. 

Join me as I relive the magical moments, cherished traditions, and the unique blend of nostalgia and anticipation that make this holiday season truly special.

15th December 🎄

The day had come. The last day of the semester. I got up early to attend my school's Christmas service. The ceremony began at 7 and all students had gathered there. All students actively participated by singing in worship to God. We sang, prayed, and thoroughly listened to the word of God. 

Soon the service had ended and we went back to our respective classes where there I received my mid-year report. It was surreal for me to see the improvement in my grades. 

Yet as the school bell rang with its resonant chime echoing through the corridors, a symphony of locker doors quickly clattered open, and the hum of excited conversations swelled. The once orderly hallways transformed into a lively tapestry of movement as students streamed out of classrooms, eager to embrace the freedom of the approaching holiday. 

As previously planned, my friends and I proceeded with lunch. We met up at a mall where there we had our lunch and a movie date. We chatted, enjoying the warmth of our laughters, finally parting as the sun sets.

25th December 🎅

Christmas day! The anticipation had peaked as I woke up early in the morning to enjoy the cozy magical atmosphere of twinkling christmas lights. The living room, filled with echoes of the rustle of wrapping paper and the joyous exclamations of delight. By afternoon, my family and I had went to my grandparents' to have our mundane big family dinner. Each with their growling stomaches ready to engulf the scrumptious food served.

The magical day was finally concluded, my family and I binged on a few short Christmas movies then quickly went to bed after an exhausting day of commuting around the city..

26th December 🎂

My birthday! My family and I had spent this special day at home, relaxing and unwinding after a long and exhausting Christmas the day before. And though we simply stayed at home, I had the best time to relax from the previously built up stress. 

Early in the morning, my mum first surprised me with a mirror cake which I had not expected. After lunch, I was occupied in receiving multiple packages from my thoughtful friends. Ending the day, my family and I went to a fine-dining restaurant.

Jakarta trip 🛍

The holiday had been fun, but it's time for a real vacation. On Thursday, 4th of January, my family spontaneously decided to go for a short trip to Jakarta. And so, due to intense boredom, I quickly agreed and got ready.

Our journey began early in the morning as we departed from Bandung. The traffic was smooth, and before long, we had arrived in Jakarta. First, we visited one of the largest malls in the city, Grand Indonesia. The mall was bustling with people on a shopping spree. Shopping together was undoubtedly enjoyable. We strolled around, searching for desired clothing and novels, laughing, and giving each other advice. 

Not long after, we stopped by a restaurant for lunch. The culinary diversity there was truly fascinating. We tried everything from local to international cuisines. And after savoring the delicious meals, we continued our journey to another shopping center, Central Park, also one of the popular malls in the city. The mall was adorned with beautiful Christmas decorations, with its colorful lights and festive Christmas ornaments. We took photos, creating unforgettable memories. 

The day concluded with a delightful dinner. Even though the day was filled with joy, the longer-than-expected journey back home left us a bit tired. Overall, this holiday to Jakarta was very meaningful. With family, we managed to create irreplaceable moments of togetherness. Despite the fatigue and occasional traffic congestion making the journey slightly boring, the smiles and laughter made it all worthwhile. 

2023 has been filled with incredible memories and lessons, I am sure that this holiday will be one of the  beautiful memories I'd cherish forever. Cheers to 2024 !
