2022 MAKSI - SMPK 1 ( SAMASTA )

On Friday, 11th of February 2022, SMPK 1 BPK PENABUR held an event called MAKSI. It is an event that is held every 2 years, where students could showcase their non-academic talents. MAKSI is an abbreviation of "Malam Apresiasi Dan Kreativitas Siswa" which means the night of student appreciation and creativity. This year's MAKSI theme is SAMASTA, an abbreviation of "Satu Masa Terbaik" which means one of the best times.

The event started at 4 pm, we opened the event with a prayer and an opening speech from the headmaster. We then sang the national anthem and the school song, followed along by 4 MCs from 8th grade explaining about MAKSI. And just to mention, this event was held online through ZOOM due to the current pandemic.

The first performance was from the grade 9 students, they performed a dance. After that, the 8th-grade students showcased a drama about how school is during the pandemic. Followed along by 2 students playing the piano, it was an interesting performance, for they didn't only play classical music but Squid Game's theme song.

There were a lot more performances like dancing, singing, playing musical instruments, speed drawing, as well as sports! One that really caught my eye was when a few of the girls performed karate, it was really amazing but at the same time intimidating to watch.

Every 4-5 performances, the MCs would stop the performance to question us about the performances to keep us active. Anyone who was able to answer would be given a prize.

Not only that but all of the students would chat in the chat box, supporting the performers as well as praise them. This was a huge school event so the alumni were also invited to perform, as well as watch the performances.

To close the event, we were given a last performance. The teachers performance. They sang the song "A Million Dreams" and "Manusia Kuat". I believe that this was the most interesting performance amongst all the others.

Here is the video of the performance, hope you enjoy!

MAKSI was over by 6.30 pm. We ended the event with a prayer.

And that's all for MAKSI 2022. I enjoyed it, the performances were intriguing and amusing to watch. I hope we could do this every year, but sadly, it can only occur once every 2 years.
